Softball Recap: Beachside Takes a Loss

Beachside and Ponte Vedra squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Beachside had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Sharks by a score of 8-7. That's two games in a row now that the Barracudas have lost by just one run.

Lily Jurgens was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Vita Lagattolla, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Beachside is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-10. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Ponte Vedra, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-9.

Beachside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ponte Vedra, they will face off against Matanzas at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Sharks surely won't give up without a fight.
