Softball Recap: Clayton Takes a Loss

Clayton lost against Tucumcari on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets came up short against the Rattlers, falling 30-15. That's two games in a row now that the Yellowjackets have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Issabell Reed led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Briana Taylor also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Clayton and nudges their season record down to 5-7. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Tucumcari, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clayton will face off against Pecos at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tucumcari, they will take on Capitan at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Rattlers surely won't give up without a fight.
