Softball Recap: Hedgesville Eagles vs. Preston Knights
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Washington, Hedgesville was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Preston Knights.
Brenna Cunningham was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexie Brown, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mayla Ortega, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Hedgesville's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Preston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-18.
Looking ahead, Hedgesville will host Musselman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Preston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
