Preview: Bryan Vikings vs. Midway Panthers
Bryan is 1-0 against Midway since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Bryan Vikings will look to defend their home field against the Midway Panthers at 7:30 p.m.
Last Thursday, Bryan was beaten by Weiss 42-13. Bryan was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.
Although Bryan took the loss, they still got scores from Titus Runnels and Terrence Lewis.
Midway fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They put the hurt on Copperas Cove with a sharp 45-21 win on Friday. With Midway ahead 31-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Ty Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 311 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt, and also punching in two touchdowns on the ground.
Midway's win bumped their season record to 3-5 while Bryan's defeat dropped theirs to 3-4.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Bryan has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 378.7 total yards per game. However, it's not like Midway struggles in that department as they've been even better at 393.1 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Everything came up roses for Bryan against Midway when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 50-21 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Midway's Dom Hill, who rushed for 216 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Bryan to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
