Volleyball Recap: Milton Takes a Loss

Milton entered their match against Woodward Academy on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Eagles took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the War Eagles.

Milton was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-17.

Macurdy Harden paced Milton's offense, picking up 15 kills. Harden got some help from Abigail Mowbray and her 18 assists. Shelby Matteson and Mia Mowbray kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Woodward Academy found their leader in freshman Lotus Jiroch, who had 13 digs and two assists. Those 13 digs set a new season-high mark for Jiroch.

Milton's loss dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Woodward Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-3.

Milton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Walton on the 13th. As for Woodward Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against North Oconee on the 13th.
