Preview: Canyon Eagles vs. Randall Raiders
After two games on the road, Canyon is heading back home. They will take on The Randall Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Canyon didn't have too much trouble with Hereford on the road as they won 30-13.
Randall fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Pampa 49-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Randall, who have now won three games by 27 points or more so far this season.
Randall can attribute much of their success to Dylan Ray, who rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns, and Tryston Sanchez, who rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Pampa to a paltry 246 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Randall's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Garrett Splitt and his two sacks.
Canyon has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven matches, giving them a 6-1 record. As for Randall, their victory on Thursday bumped their record up to 5-3.
Things could have been worse for Canyon, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 31-14 loss to Randall in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Canyon have more luck at home instead of on the road?
