Baseball Game Preview: Ayden - Grifton Chargers vs. New Bern Bears

The Ayden - Grifton Chargers will take on the New Bern Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ayden - Grifton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Ayden - Grifton got the win against West Columbus by a conclusive 16-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Slater Persinger looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ayden - Grifton got a massive performance out of Jack Ewell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Brysen Williams, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Ayden - Grifton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, New Bern didn't have quite enough to beat South Central on Thursday and fell 9-8. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by just one run.

Ayden - Grifton's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for New Bern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
