Baseball Recap: Providence Academy Triumphs

Providence Academy won against Southwest Christian last Thursday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Lions walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Holy Family Catholic Fire. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Josh Wilson tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Nicholas Nathe was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Joe Berghult, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Providence Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Holy Family Catholic, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Providence Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-2 victory against Breck on the 15th. As for Holy Family Catholic, they have also already played their next game, an 18-2 win against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on the 14th.
