Baseball Recap: Youngsville Gets the Win

While Youngsville's win against Iroquois wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles skirted past the Braves 3-1. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Braves on Wednesday, too.

David Manning spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cole Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has become a key player for Youngsville: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise. Braydon Baker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Youngsville's record now sits at 3-4. As for Iroquois, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Youngsville will face off against North Clarion at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Iroquois, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mercyhurst Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
