Volleyball Recap: Athol Triumphs

The Athol Bears were able to grind out a solid win over the Springfield Central/Commerce/Putnam/Renaissance/Springfield Science and Tech Golden Eagles on Monday, taking the game 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Athol had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-19, 25-22, 29-27.

Warren Taylor paced Athol's offense, picking up ten kills. Taylor got some help from Caunor Mason and his 12 assists. Finally, Taylor was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Athol picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-6.

Coming up, Athol will challenge Hampden Charter School of Science at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Springfield Central/Commerce/Putnam/Renaissance/Springfield Science and Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
