Basketball Recap: Cardinal O'Hara Takes a Loss

Cardinal O'Hara extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-2. They were dealt an 84-50 defeat at the hands of the Bishop Timon-St. Jude Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 87-46 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Despite the defeat, Cardinal O'Hara saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jordan Doe-Bruce posted 20 points. Bryan Doe-Bruce was another key player, putting up ten points.

As for Bishop Timon-St. Jude, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 86.2 points over those games.

Bishop Timon-St. Jude's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joey Insera led the charge by going 8-for-11 to rack up 19 points and seven rebounds. Those 19 points gave Insera a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tahan Willis, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 14 points along with five assists and four steals.

Looking ahead, Cardinal O'Hara will take on Charter School for Applied Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop Timon-St. Jude, they will face off against Lewiston-Porter at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
