Softball Game Preview: Emmett Huskies vs. Vallivue Falcons

The Emmett Huskies will head out on the road to challenge the Vallivue Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Emmett is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since May 11, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Middleton by a score of 3-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Huskies in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.

Oakley Scheibe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

Meanwhile, Vallivue had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Everything went their way against the Wildcats as they made off with a 19-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Cali Child and Bella Magallon did most of the damage at the plate: Child went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs, while Magallon went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs Child has posted over her last seven contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Evonny Gonzales, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Vallivue was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .812. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in six consecutive matches.

Emmett's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Vallivue, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.

Emmett beat Vallivue 6-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
