AAA Region 8 recap September 17, 2013
Elbert County's Mecole Hardman recorded the longest rushing play in AAA Region 8 this season in his game against Evans last week. Hardman's team fell to the Knights as he sprinted for 57 yards on the play and finished with 159 in all.
North Oconee was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in the league. The Titans vanquished Madison County 42-7 earlier in the week.
Elbert County's dynamic duo of Hardman and Marquice Dye proved tough for Evans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hardman threw for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns and Dye had 72 yards receiving. Devon Turman helped Elbert County's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 43 yards.
Sid Fritts' team's dynamic duo of Hardman and Dye proved to be unstoppable against Marty Jackson's team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Kawon Bryant was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 213 yards on 24 carries as North Oconee lost to the Knights. Teammate Hunter Kelley added to the ground attack by rushing for 32 yards.
Bryant was a force in the backfield as Terry Tuley's team bested the Red Raiders.
Hardman put up the best numbers in passing as Elbert County fell to Evans.
Dye was the best receiver in AAA Region 8 this week as the Blue Devils fell to the Knights.
The Titans' 5-foot-10 quarterback Tate Adcock is the league leader in passing yards this season with 344. The leading receiver in the league this season is Casey Reed. The East Jackson star has 9 catches for 113 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when East Jackson takes on Jackson County. The Eagles are currently in fifth, while the Panthers are in seventh.
Oconee County lost to Monroe Area 53-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
