League recap: Walley dominating on the mound for Taylorsville

Mason Sam Walley was the best pitcher in 2A Region 8 this week. He won two games and struck out 17 batters.

With a big week, Taylorsville jumped into the top 25 in the state rankings. Taylorsville moved up from No. 30 in the state all the way to No. 22 thanks to a 2-0 record over the past week. Led by manager Dusty Hillman, the Tartars are ranked No. 1029 in the nation with an overall record of 26-5.

The Tartars boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. Taylorsville has given up a mere 138 hits on the year in addition to compiling 261 strikeouts. Walley is the leader in that category with 99 Ks on the season.
