Recap: Hardaway Hawks vs. Harris County Tigers
The Hardaway Hawks entered their tilt with the Harris County Tigers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Hardaway enjoyed a cozy 64-48 win over Harris County on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Hardaway, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Hardaway to victory were Akilah Shelton and Mikayla Johnson. Shelton scored 20 points, while Johnson scored 20 points. The contest was Shelton's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adazha Burrell, who scored seven points.
Harris County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Bass, who scored 18 points. Bass is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Allana Coulter, who scored five points along with ten rebounds.
Hardaway pushed their record up to 6-4 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.5 points. As for Harris County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
Hardaway will take on Columbus in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at. Columbus will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Hardaway is ranked 113th). Harris County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Manchester at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th.
