After a string of five wins, Sickles's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were outmatched by the Newsome Wolves and fell 40-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Gryphons have suffered since April 9, 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Sadie Avery, who threw for 215 yards and four TDs while completing 77.8% of her passes. Newsome is undefeated when Avery posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 4-5 otherwise. Chloe Clark made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Sickles' defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Newsome, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

Sickles didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 20-14 loss against Brandon on the 5th. As for Newsome, they will head out to take on Strawberry Crest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Wolves 13.4, the Chargers 7.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
