Baseball Recap: Northwest Cabarrus' Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

Northwest Cabarrus took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against East Rowan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Mustangs on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since April 29, 2024.

Ben Able was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Northwest Cabarrus' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cooper Greene, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Northwest Cabarrus' victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12. As for East Rowan, they moved to 13-3 with that loss, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.

Coming up, Northwest Cabarrus will head out on the road to challenge South Rowan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Rowan, it'll be an old-fashioned rodeo when East Rowan Mustangs challenge West Stanly Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. They are on a four-game streak of home wins, West Stanly a four-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
