The Union Parish Farmers will head out on the road to face off against the Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union Parish is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Union Parish will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Booker T. Washington-Shreveport on Tuesday. Union Parish put the hurt on Booker T. Washington-Shreveport with a sharp 16-1 victory. The Farmers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 4, 2024.
Jose Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Rodriguez was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Khaidyn Johnson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Javion Island also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Union Parish kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.2.
Family Community Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Calvary Baptist Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against Family Community Christian by a score of 4-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cavaliers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Judson Funderburk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Christian Ashworth, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Cooper Holmes was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Calvary Baptist Academy's record is now 13-8. As for Union Parish, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Union Parish might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Calvary Baptist Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2021. Can Union Parish avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
