Preview: Southwest DeKalb Panthers vs. Druid Hills Red Devils
Southwest DeKalb has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Druid Hills Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Southwest DeKalb was able to grind out a solid victory over Miller Grove, taking the game 57-45.
It was another big night for Messiah Mergan, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Ushery, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Druid Hills had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Stone Mountain 89-68. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Druid Hills has posted since November 11, 2023.
Southwest DeKalb has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Druid Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Southwest DeKalb came out on top in a nail-biter against Druid Hills in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, sneaking past 66-64. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southwest DeKalb since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
