Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Martinsville). They blew past the Zavalla Eagles 24-18 on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Jaycie Latham and Emmy Locke did most of the damage at the plate: Latham scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Locke scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Those three runs gave Locke a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexis Colorado, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
