Baseball Recap: Oceanside Comes Up Short

After flying high against Winslow on Wednesday, Oceanside came back down to earth. The Mariners fell just short of the Medomak Valley Panthers by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Mariners were not able to get on the board.

Jake Watkinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Oceanside's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Medomak Valley, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oceanside will welcome Waterville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Medomak Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
