Baseball Recap: Lamar Consolidated Drops Season-High Score on Fort Bend Marshall

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lamar Consolidated). They put the hurt on the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos with a sharp 22-3 win on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 last Tuesday.

Lamar Consolidated let Randall Sosnowski and Mikey Cuellar run wild. Sosnowski went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Cuellar went 2-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI. Lamar Consolidated is undefeated when Cuellar posts two or more runs, but 1-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kaden Perez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Lamar Consolidated always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Bend Marshall only posted an OBP of .316.

The victory made it two in a row for Lamar Consolidated and bumps their season record up to 4-14. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 10.5 strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.94 in the others. As for Fort Bend Marshall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Lamar Consolidated will challenge Alvin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar Consolidated will need to watch out since Alvin has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Fort Bend Marshall, they will take on Fort Bend Kempner at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Bend Marshall is facing Fort Bend Kempner at the right time seeing as Fort Bend Kempner is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
