Softball Game Preview: Erie-Prophetstown Panthers vs. Kewanee Boilermakers

For the second straight game, Erie-Prophetstown will face off against Kewanee. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Boilermakers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Erie-Prophetstown's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Kewanee's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Erie-Prophetstown fell victim to Kewanee and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Boilermakers, falling 6-0.

For Kewanee's part, not much got past Kalleigh Gale, who gave up just six hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Erie-Prophetstown off the board. Gale has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rylee Blades and Lily Lee did most of the damage at the plate: Blades scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Lee scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That stolen base was Lee's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kieryn Abernathy, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

The win was the fourth in a row for Kewanee, bringing their record up to 6-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Erie-Prophetstown, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
