Basketball Recap: Riverview Academy of Math and Science Piles Up the Points Against Pepin Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverview Academy of Math and Science). They breezed by Pepin Academy to the tune of 75-31 on Wednesday. The Barracudas pushed the score to 63-16 by the end of the third, a deficit Pepin Academy cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading Riverview Academy of Math and Science to victory were Aaron Riley and Caden Cook. Riley went 8 for 18 on his way to 20 points, while Cook dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Riley's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Tayshaun Johnson was another key player, putting up six points and six steals.

Riverview Academy of Math and Science was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Riverview Academy of Math and Science's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Pepin Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Riverview Academy of Math and Science and Winter Haven Christian will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Riverview Academy of Math and Science is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season. As for Pepin Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on American Youth Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 16, 2025.
