Basketball Game Preview: Mattamuskeet Lakers vs. Northside - Pinetown Panthers + How To Watch

Mattamuskeet is 1-9 against Northside - Pinetown since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mattamuskeet is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home two weeks ago. They walked away with a 61-50 victory over Eastern Christian HomeSchool. The Lakers pushed the score to 51-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trailblazers cut but never quite recovered from.

Mattamuskeet's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hezekiah Mann led the charge by putting up 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Lewis, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, Northside - Pinetown was able to grind out a solid win over Cape Hatteras last Thursday, taking the game 53-43. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now won three in a row.

Mattamuskeet better focus on containing Memphis Keech and German Mercado as the pair were huge in Northside - Pinetown's win. Keech shot 41% from the field on his way to 21 points and four steals, while Mercado went 7-for-17 to rack up 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 21 points gave Keech a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayden Bass, who put up three points and three steals.

Mattamuskeet was dealt a bruising 68-25 defeat at the hands of Northside - Pinetown in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Lakers were down 38-16.
