Basketball Game Preview: Harmony Christian Hawks vs. Veritas Christian Academy

Harmony Christian hasn't had much luck against Veritas Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Both will compete for holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

Harmony Christian will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Trinity Christian, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Harmony Christian put the hurt on Trinity Christian with a sharp 46-20 victory last Monday.

Harmony Christian can attribute much of their success to Sophia Quinn, who posted 15 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Deser, who put up nine points along with six boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, Veritas Christian Academy put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 51-29 margin over Abundant Life Academy. Veritas Christian Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 22 points or more this season.

Harmony Christian better keep an eye on Amya Cuddon. She was instrumental in Veritas Christian Academy's win, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Cuddon a new career-high in points. Madelyn Seifert was another key player, going 8 of 16 on her way to 20 points along with eight boards and four steals.

Veritas Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Veritas Christian Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.0 points per game. As for Harmony Christian, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Harmony Christian took a serious blow against Veritas Christian Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 56-19. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Harmony Christian was down 32-3.
