Basketball Recap: Cape Henry Collegiate Comes Up Short

Cape Henry Collegiate lost against Hampton Roads Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins lost 49-28 to the Hampton Roads Academy Navigators. While losing is never fun, the Dolphins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Navigators are ranked 39th).

Hampton Roads Academy was led to victory by Kenzie Cooper and Zuriel Pendleton-Morant. Cooper almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds, while Pendleton-Morant posted ten points in addition to seven steals and five boards. Cooper has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Nalani Carter was another key player, putting up six points and 14 boards.

Cape Henry Collegiate's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Hampton Roads Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cape Henry Collegiate will take on Norfolk Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Norfolk Christian will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Cape Henry Collegiate surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hampton Roads Academy, they will challenge Nansemond-Suffolk Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
