Football Recap: Man Hillbillies vs. Sherman Tide
After flying high against Greenbrier West last Friday, Man came back down to earth. The Hillbillies took a 24-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sherman Tide on Friday. The matchup was a 6-6 toss-up at halftime, but the Hillbillies couldn't quite close it out.
Sherman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Pauley, who threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Pauley also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble, making four total tackles, and defending one pass. Sherman's leading receiver Trey Lester was Pauley's top target yet again, picking up 154 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Man has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Sherman, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Man will take on Chapmanville Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 6.4 points per game this season, so the Hillbillies' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Sherman, they will face off against Tolsia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
