The St. James Academy Thunder will take on the Andover Trojans at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. James Academy comes in on three and Andover on 16.
St. James Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against De Soto, sneaking past 49-47. Given the Thunder's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Wildcats are ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Regan Becker
03/07/25 @ De Soto | 50% |
03/04/25 vs Bonner Springs | 75% |
02/28/25 @ Blue Valley Northwest | 50% |
Regan Becker was her usual excellent self, putting up 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. She is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games she's played. Ireland Sullivan was another key player, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Andover strolled past Bishop Carroll with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 59-45.
Andover's win came from a few key players St. James Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aliyah Green, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 17 boards. Another player making a difference was Asiah Sullivan, who posted 15 points and six assists.
Andover smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive contests.
Andover pushed their record up to 21-1 with the victory, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. As for St. James Academy, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.
Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: St. James Academy has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 36.3% of their three-pointers per game. However, it's not like Andover struggles in that department as they've made 34.5% of their three-pointers this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
St. James Academy beat Andover 61-48 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Andover's Brooke Walker, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 24 points and five rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be easier for St. James Academy to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
