Football Recap: Collins Hill Falls Short of Lowndes in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Collins Hill can now relate to. They came up short against the Lowndes Vikings on Friday, falling 37-16. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2021.

Despite the loss, Collins Hill still got an impressive performance from Atticus Joseph, who picked up 140 receiving yards and one score. Joseph showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 50 yards. A.J. Bush was another key player, having thrown for 267 yards and onetouchdown.

Even if they lost, Collins Hill's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Deuce Geralds was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Lowndes' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayce Johnson, who threw for 131 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 36 yards and one TD. What's more, Johnson racked up 122.7 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September. Ar'Tavian Brown was Johnson's top target, picking up 57 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Collins Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Lowndes, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.

Collins Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lowndes, they have already played their next contest, a 29-17 loss against North Gwinnett on the 21st.
