Basketball Game Preview: Marian Eagles vs. St. Francis Episcopal Wolves

The Marian Eagles will head out to square off against the St. Francis Episcopal Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marian has given up an average of 55.5 points per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Marian is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since January 9th on Saturday. They were dealt a 60-33 loss at the hands of Washington-Marion. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Eagles' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

The losing side was boosted by Lamonte Butler, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 18 points and five boards. He is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Drew Masule, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, St. Francis Episcopal ended up a good deal behind St. John's on Saturday and lost 56-42.

Marian's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5. As for St. Francis Episcopal, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Marian came up short against St. Francis Episcopal when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 56-43. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
