Softball Game Preview: Cameron County Raiders vs. Bucktail Bucks

The Cameron County Raiders will face off against the Bucktail Bucks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cameron County has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Bucktail will come in with three straight victories.

Cameron County came up short against Port Allegany on Thursday, falling 25-7.

Meanwhile, Bucktail got themselves on the board against Millville on Monday, but Millville never followed suit. They blew past the Quakers 18-0. The Bucks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.

Carrie Ditty made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ditty was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Eva Sockman and Lola English did most of the damage at the plate: Sockman went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while English went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Those four hits gave English a new career-high. Makenna Stone was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Bucktail was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .630. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Cameron County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bucktail, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
