Basketball Game Preview: Avondale Yellowjackets vs. Clarkston Wolves

The Avondale Yellowjackets will take on the Clarkston Wolves in a tournament on Wednesday. One thing working in Avondale's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.

Last Tuesday, Avondale didn't have too much breathing room in their match against West Bloomfield, but they still walked away with a 71-67 victory. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Lakers are ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Clarkston over Lakeland in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Everything went Clarkston's way against Lakeland as Clarkston made off with a 61-38 win. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Avondale is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points over those games. Clarkston's victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
