Football Game Preview: Onekama Portagers vs. Hillman Tigers + How To Watch

The Onekama Portagers will take on the Hillman Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Onekama is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, Onekama strolled past Bellaire with points to spare, taking the game 27-8. Those 27 points were actually the fewest the Portagers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Hillman beat Rogers City 28-24 on Friday.

Hillman's win came from a few key players Onekama will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Xavier Nichols, who threw for 230 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making four total tackles. Hillman's leading receiver Evan Crane was Nichols' top target yet again, picking up 124 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Hillman didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Eddie Prue and Ethan Deville, who each picked up one interception apiece. Hillman received some extra help from Chris Shiffer, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Onekama's record is now 9-0. As for Hillman, their record now sits at 6-3.

Onekama strolled past Hillman when the teams last played back in August of 2016 by a score of 18-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Portagers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
