Newman Central Catholic is a perfect 4-0 against Riverdale since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. Riverdale took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Newman Central Catholic, who comes in off a win.

Newman Central Catholic will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up six points last Friday, then bounced right back against Mercer County on Saturday. The Comets breezed past the Golden Eagles to the tune of 46-7. Considering the Comets have won three matchups by more than 25 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Riverdale was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 42-36 to Erie-Prophetstown.

Newman Central Catholic pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points on average over those games. As for Riverdale, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Everything came up roses for Newman Central Catholic against Riverdale in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 35-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
