Basketball Recap: Saint James Skates Past Catoctin with Ease

Saint James's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 86-31 victory over the Catoctin Cougars. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Cougars are ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Saint James to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Colbert, who went 9 for 13 to rack up 18 points and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Colbert a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Jayden Yates, who went 7 of 11 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Saint James was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Saint James' record now sits at 7-16. As for Catoctin, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-17.

Saint James didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 80-59 loss against St. Andrew's Episcopal on the 7th. As for Catoctin, they have also already played their next contest, an 85-48 defeat against Williamsport on the 7th.
