Baseball Recap: Millington Central Takes a Loss

Millington Central extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 7-25 in the process. They came up short against the Munford Cougars, falling 16-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-0 defeat back in April.

As for Munford, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 16-14. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Munford's part, Drew McCann looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, McCann posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Curly Lowry was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxzen Scheidt, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Millington Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Munford, they will take on Melrose at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.63 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
