Houston Academy came tearing into Saturday's match with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Long Rebels. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 last Saturday.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Houston Academy got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 20-25, 15-8.

Ann Davis Sinquefield paced Houston Academy's offense, picking up 16 kills. Sinquefield got some help from Molly Rutland and her 18 assists. Rylie Spence controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Despite the defeat, Long had strong showings from Sawyer Hughes, who had 28 assists, and Brooklyn Head, who had 12 digs.

Houston Academy's win bumped their record up to 26-8. As for Long, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.
