Basketball Recap: Henderson Collegiate Comes Up Short

Henderson Collegiate was the 44-42 winner over Franklin Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Henderson Collegiate Pride were dealt a 63-17 loss at the hands of the Franklin Academy Patriots on Monday. The Pride just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row.

Franklin Academy found their leader in sophomore Rayne Bookhart, who went 9 of 15 en route to 18 points. Bookhart is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 18 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Griffin Coward, who posted six points.

Henderson Collegiate's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Franklin Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

After both having extra time off, Henderson Collegiate and Discovery Charter School will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Franklin Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against North Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
