Softball Recap: Woodland Park Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Woodland Park kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Greeley Central Wildcats by a score of 14-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since August 27, 2024.

Christine Renteria and Paige Haugen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Renteria got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Haugen went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Renteria is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Phillips, who earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

The victory got Greeley Central back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Woodland Park and Greeley Central will both be playing Wray/Yuma the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
