Preview: La Quinta vs. Silver Valley
Silver Valley and La Quinta face off this Friday at 7:00 PM to determine whose season will come to a close. La Quinta will want to keep Silver Valley's offense in check as it has had no trouble moving up and down the field in its last six games.
Silver Valley battled it out with Nogales last week for a well-earned 35 - 29 overtime win. Senior Eteru (ej) Ane continued his outstanding stretch of play as he rushed for 202 yards in the victory, marking his 11th consecutive game with over 100 yards rushing. Ane has also now scored at least one touchdown in the past nine consecutive games. Sophomore Anthony Brown banked an additional two TDs for the team.
As for La Quinta, it can now show off seven landslide victories after its most recent game. It took its game against The Webb Schools last week by a confident 56 - 28 score. The team got some fancy footwork on defense from senior Louis Bui, who dodged the offensive line to pick up three sacks.
Their wins bumped Silver Valley to 8-3 and La Quinta to 11-1. La Quinta and Silver Valley will be experiencing extra pressure in this one since they are each in the midst of a winning streak (La Quinta with six wins, Silver Valley with four). We'll see which team can handle the heat this Friday.
