Softball Game Preview: Mayer Wildcats vs. El Capitan Eagles

The Mayer Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the El Capitan Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Thursday. Mayer came up short against Joseph City, falling 15-0. Mayer's defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, El Capitan's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost 10-1 to Page. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since March 22nd.

El Capitan saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Hammon, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Aiyanna Hammon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9-1. As for Mayer, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
