Olivia Fuentes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Preslee Hill, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Baron, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Lowell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, Lake Central got the win against Harrison on Friday by a conclusive 14-5.
Maddie Such looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Lake Central got a massive performance out of Taylor Schafer, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Lexi Iwema was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Lowell's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Lake Central, their victory bumped their record up to 19-2.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lowell hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Lake Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .406. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
