Softball Recap: Whitesboro Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Whitesboro's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Ponder on Friday. The Bearcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Paradise Panthers an 11-0 shutout. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by ten runs or more this season.

Avery Howerton made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Howerton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Cameron Ortiz was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Tylar Olsen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Whitesboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They are 12-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Whitesboro's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Paradise, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7-2.

Coincidentally, Whitesboro and Paradise will both be playing Pilot Point the next time they take the field. The Panthers will host the Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bearcats will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
