Basketball Recap: Wasatch Takes Down Ranked Cedar Valley

On Friday, Wasatch faced Cedar Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Wasatch Wasps came out on top against the Cedar Valley Aviators by a score of 51-38. The victory was familiar territory for the Wasps who have now won four matches in a row.

Wasatch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Danielle Garner, who went 8 for 12 to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Garner has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahala Speredon, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Wasatch pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points over those games. As for Cedar Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wasatch will head out to challenge Maple Mountain at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Wasatch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season. As for Cedar Valley, they are taking a road trip to square off against Springville at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Springville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
