The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lyons in their matchups with Whitney Young: they've now lost four in a row.
Whitney Young's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kiaya Johnson led the charge by scoring 12 points along with 5 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Whitney Young's points. Another player making a difference was Destiny Jackson, who scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds.
Lyons' loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Whitney Young, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Lyons will be playing at home against Oak Park-River Forest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Park-River Forest comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Whitney Young, they will head out on the road to face off against Taft at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Taft will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Whitney Young is ranked 12th).
