League recap: Glenelg's Gillespie delivers best pitching performance from past week

Howard County league recap: 4/3/13

Glenelg's Louis Gillespie was the best pitcher in Howard County this week. He picked up one win and seven strikeouts.

Marriotts Ridge and Oakland Mills are tied atop the standings of the league, leaving first place open for the taking.

Hammond's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 12 hits and four walks to lead the league in both categories.

The league boasted 11 .400 hitters over the past week. The group was paced by Joe Bentz, who collected seven hits in 12 at bats for a .583 average.

With four runs batted in this week, the Gladiators' Luke Brister increased his league-leading total in that category to seven.



Paul Burmester drove in four runners as Atholton defeated Linganore 7-4 on Monday. He went 2-for-5 and scored one run.

The Lancers' Tommy Mee struck out eight Wilde Lake hitters en route to a 3-0 victory on March 30. He gave up two hits and three runs over six innings of work.
