Baseball Game Preview: Stagg Delta Kings vs. Pioneer Patriots

The Stagg Delta Kings will head out to challenge the Pioneer Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Stagg is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Stagg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Chavez 19-1 on Friday. While the Delta Kings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Sebastian Ramirez and Rocco Rodriguez made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Ramirez struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Rodriguez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ramirez has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Ramirez scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Rodriguez scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenny Dondunay, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Christiano Shaw was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Pioneer got themselves on the board against Vanden on Thursday, but Vanden never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Vikings. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Jack Cullison was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Stagg's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs. As for Pioneer, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
