After losing to Mapleton the last time they met, Dalton decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Mounties by a score of 12-9 on Friday.
Skylar Fletcher was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Fletcher was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Lily Teague was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Hannah Wenger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs.
Dalton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive games.
Dalton's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Mapleton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dalton will face off against Black River at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Mapleton, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against St. Paul at 5:00 p.m.
