Basketball Recap: Carmi-White County Takes a Loss

Carmi-White County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by the Mt. Vernon Wildcats 52-21. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 465th in Illinois, while the Wildcats are ranked 181st in Indiana).

Mt. Vernon was led to victory by Nash Hostetter and Meyer Robb. Hostetter went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points and seven assists, while Robb went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points along with five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Bryce Clowers, who posted five points and four steals.

Carmi-White County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Mt. Vernon, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carmi-White County will square off against Grayville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Vernon has already played their next game (against North Posey), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
